Chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine were approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for 'compassionate use' which gives hospitals and doctors emergency permission to use them to treat coronavirus patients. FDA is also working with manufacturers of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine to increase production to ensure these drugs remain available for patients dependent on them.
